What's in Season in Florida?

Florida is one of the few lucky states that has a year-round growing season.  During the heaviest part of the agriculture season (typically November through May), the Palm Beach County Food Bank (PBCFB) partners with CROS Ministries to collect produce through our gleaning program.  Produce is picked in the fields by CROS volunteers and PBCFB's drivers transport the produce back to our warehouse where it is boxed by PBCFB's volunteers before it goes out to our partner agencies.  Produce that PBCFB receives through gleaning includes lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, corn, and mangoes.

What other kinds of produce can you expect during the agriculture season?  Check out this great list put together by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) of Florida's crops and typical availability.
