Childhood Hunger Initiatives

Weekend Meal Program

(Lois' Food4Kids and Weekend Food for Kids)

The program provides food-insecure school-age children (18 and under) with a bag full of nutritious, easy-to-prepare food for the weekend. Every Friday, the child receives two breakfasts, two lunches, an individual dinner, two snacks, two drinks, and a family meal to consume over the weekend when they do not have access to free breakfast and lunch at school. Click here for a sample menu. The program partners with schools, after-school programs, and other child-centric community programs and is available during the school year only, summer only, or year-round, depending on the community’s needs.

School Pantry

Program

Supports student and staff-led school pantries, with a high percentage of students on free and reduced lunch, by providing them with enough weekly food donations to support their students and families. School pantries allow low-income families to supplement their food budgets by providing additional food resources.
