While we think of summer as a time for fun, for thousands of children in Palm Beach County summer is a season of hunger. When school meal programs close, many families struggle to keep nourishing food on the table, even while working multiple jobs.
Last summer the Food Bank distributed nearly 15,000 meal bags to children at child-focused sites like summer camps and community centers. That’s 135,000 meals.
This summer, the need has increased and we hope to reach hundreds more with meal bags and, for the first time, hot meals.
With the cost of food on the rise, we’re asking our supporters to help us raise $100,000 by July 15th to support the Food Bank’s Summer Meals Program.
